Hospital Rates

nib/IMAN Agreement Private Hospitals are paid at 100% of the nib contracted rate.

Non-Agreement Private Hospitals are paid at the level determined by the Department of Health and Ageing, called the Default Benefit.

Public Hospitals are paid 100% of the Gazetted Rate Determined by the State and Territory Authorities.

A General Practitioner (GP) is a doctor whose practice is not oriented to a specific medical specialty but instead covers a variety of day-to-day health needs for patients. Also called a family doctor.

Specialists
MBS

Visits to a specialist, radiology or pathology. Generally a referral from a General Practitioner is required to visit a specialist with the exclusion of Psychiatric treatment or consultations.
